PE_1iMovie

Have you heard of iMovie? Well if you are a MAC user then you know it is an application that came with your personal computer. Well if you are new to iMovie or don't know anything about it, Lynda.com is a great education site that shows you tutorials on how to use many different type of applications. Throughout this blog and several others, I will be using Lynda.com to go through the iMovie '09 Essential Training to review how to use iMovie and create good quality videos for others to view. So what is iMovie? It is a great movie editing software that anyone can use to create professional looking videos. You can use those old home videos and pictures that are stored on your video camera and camera.

I have complete 27% of the training. And still have a way to go before getting my certificate.

This training is almost 2 and a half hours and so far I have only gotten to the end of chapter 3. I will be using most of what I learned in the first iMovie practical experience I will be talking about in this blog. So far I learned what iMovie is about, how to import video using different sources, managing the data in my video library, and how to edit my movie.

One section of this training talked about managing my video library. Here is a quick snapshot of movies I have in my library. They are all organized by title to make it easy to locate.

One thing I found really interesting was how to add selections to my movie using quick shortcuts that I did not know about. I simply use the control E or hit the add selection to project button and voila the clip is added to the movie without needing to drag it. This will definitely allow me to edit much more quickly.

I did work with using the different title screens that include a little motion. One big thing I need to figure out is how to slow down the credits, hopefully I will learn this somewhere in this training.
This is a Clouds title over another title background, although I don't quite know the technical term used to do this, since it wasn't covered in the training.

Here is Boogie Lights, where it transitions with flashes of lights.

Here is Pixie Dust, where the words slide in with a bit of magic dust.

Unfortunately, I did not find out how to slow down the credits in this training, so my quest still goes on...
