PE5_Kidoz

Okay, I am back to tell you how the rest of my exploration on Kido'z went. So far I have located the site, created an account and started the free trial. Now to see how everything works.

Once you start the trial the page you see looks like a TV screen with a bunch of images from various shows indicating the website you are searching for. The bottom of the screen has different icons showing the different options students can select. These include: games, websites, tv, and e-mail. I selected the website icon to get back to all the website choices.

When I scrolled through the sites I noticed that I would need to add the site I wanted the students to use to research the assignment. In the top left corner you have the parental control option that you can select to make changes to the sites and games the kids can access.

Since I wanted to add a new website I selected that option.

I was now able to add the 50 states site that I specifically wanted the students to use to research their states. All I had to do was put the website name and URL and voila.

My website was created. I initially had trouble locating the new site in the website locator, until I realized there was now a new option on the website page showing my sites.

Once I selected this I was brought to a separate website page with sites that I created. Since I have only created one site, it was easy to find. All I had to do was select the 50 states site and I was brought directly to the correct web page. Take about a time saver. No more having to tell students how to spell the website or double checking to make sure they entered the letters correctly. All you have to do is select the site's icon and presto, you are there.

Now I can get the students to complete their research quickly and don't have to worry about the visiting sites they don't need to. This is such a time saver. It's a great tools for parents to use at home also. I wonder if there is already a site like this already created for school use. If not they should create one.
